"Dr. Rosenthal has been a blessing to our family from the moment we were fortunate enough to have our son in his remarkable care. He not only made an early diagnosis but more importantly helped us to create an action plan which put our son in the best possible care and on a path to getting the best treatment as quickly as possible. He was actively involved and engaged in every aspect of his care and treatment plan, constantly engaging and adjusting the process. As a clinician he is second to none, but more importantly as a human being, if there is a finer person we have not met him. Dr. Rosenthal helped us, as parents, through an incredibly difficult time and reassured us that we would be in a position to give our son every chance of being his best self. He was the voice of reason and assurance when we needed it most. He is most kind and engaged and we are enormously grateful for his skill and support.” -A.C., Parent

“Dr. Michael Rosenthal has become a very important person in our lives. He has contributed to our family in ways that we can not fully thank him for. Several years ago, when our son was 6 years old, we sought out Dr. Mike to evaluate our boy who was showing signs of developmental delay. It was a new experience for us as parents and for our son to enter into a landscape unfamiliar, potentially frightening and yet so important to his future of learning. Mike welcomed our family into his office and we immediately felt at ease. He exhibited great skill in his subtle but effective handling of the parents and the patient with equal care and completely different tact. Its not easy for parents to leave their 6 year old alone in an office for hours at a time for a several days in a row, knowing he will be mentally challenged and prodded in order to evaluate how his brain works. But after each session our son was invigorated and shared all the fun, if sometimes challenging, games that Dr. Mike and he played.
What followed, a few weeks after our son’s first neuro-psych eval was an in-depth report from Dr. Rosenthal that was specific beyond our dreams. It gave us a clear snapshot into our sons learning and relieved us of so much of the unknown. It was an invaluable experience.
Cut to 3 years later, our son now in public school, heading into the 4th grade, 10 years old. While his IEP in school had helped him in so many ways, it became clear to us that he was not excelling at a rate that would allow him to succeed comfortably. So we began looking for programs that would suit our son’s needs together. When we found the school we wanted to apply to we needed to re-visit with Dr. Mike for another complete neuro-psych eval to update our son’s status 3 years later. Arriving at Dr. Mike's office was like arriving home. Because of his experience 3 years earlier our son had no hesitation getting to work. Dr. Mike's "bedside-manner" was the perfect mix of professional and personal. They worked together for three days assessing where our son’s strengths and weaknesses lived. And when the evaluation was done and we received Mike's on-time report, we were reminded once again of the care, and exacting professionalism he prided himself with.
Moving our son from Public to a special private school required us to enter into a "legal negotiation" with the DOE who is required to provide funding for his education if they can not provide the education itself. As such we had to retain an attorney to shepherd us through the sticky legal matter. The team of lawyers handling our son’s case were all relieved when we told them his two neuro-psych evaluations were with Dr. Michael Rosenthal. They knew exactly what they were getting when they opened his reports. After reviewing, each of them remarked on the important and thorough evaluation that Mike had completed with our son and how confident they felt in our case because of his reporting.
It goes without saying that it is super stressful for parents who are trying to figure out the best way to help their child who is struggling and have no idea where to go to help. And it is incredibly comforting for those parents when they find a pathway that feels right, presents progress and gives confidence to their child. For us that pathway was Dr. Mike Rosenthal. He has provided us with comfort, inspired our son with confidence and, taking his job with the utmost care and competence, provided the other professionals in our sons' learning life with the information they need to move forward with a plan to help him. We are and will always be forever grateful to Dr. Mike.” -R.K. and D.M., Parents

“Working with Dr. Rosenthal has truly been a privilege. His warmth and sensitivity were an immediate draw to us and our 12 year old son, when we met him several years ago. Since then, we have come to value his extensive knowledge in neuropsychology, as well as his flexibility to work out of the box with his patients with respect to their family, school and community ties. Dr. Rosenthal has additionally connected us to other support organizations that have been invaluable. We consider ourselves most fortunate to have him in our lives.” – S.T., Parent

“After asking my son's public school guidance counselors and checking with contacts in the private school world, we selected Dr. Rosenthal as his was the only name on both lists. From the first meeting to the last follow up, my twelve year old son enjoyed spending time with Dr. Rosenthal learning as my son explained with pride "how his brain worked". Dr. Rosenthal uncovered learning differences that surprised my son's school and helped my son learn how to advocate for himself. Our pre-teen stills see the world differently, but now he knows why and that he's not the only one.
After diagnosing our middle school son with learning differences, our high achieving, Bronx Science High School daughter asked if she could also be evaluated too to explore why she struggled on some tasks in certain classes. Dr. Rosenthal determined that she too had dyslexia. Now she has a 504 which allows time and a half on tests and has boosted her confidence about her underlining intelligence. Her teachers reacted positively to the 504 too. They now understand why she always knew the concepts discussed in class, but came up short sometimes reflecting that knowledge on paper. This process has brought her closer to some of these teachers who are now writing her college recommendations. My daughter is a huge fan of Dr. Rosenthal. We are too.” -W.C., Parent

“As parents, we all seek the best for our children. When our children are vulnerable and need specialized attention for academic and developmental concerns, it's essential to find a neuropsychologist who will go the mile for your child. Dr. Michael Rosenthal is that person. My husband and I first met Dr. Rosenthal when our daughter was only 3 years old and we were concerned about her development. He was so thorough, compassionate, and insightful, that we sought his assistance again when our daughter needed to be re-evaluated at age 6. With Dr. Rosenthal's extensive reports and expertise, we were able to find an ideal school and treatment environment for our daughter. Not all neuropsychological reports are created equally, and Dr. Rosenthal's keen attention to detail is a treasure to parents and educators who need careful feedback moving forward. As emotional as this process can sometimes feel, I always felt very comfortable with Dr. Rosenthal, and I was consistently impressed with how deeply he understood our daughter and her needs. With apparent ease, Dr. Rosenthal sees the whole child, and respectfully captures and empowers the child to move forward to be successful.” -C.W., Parent

"Dr. Rosenthal is a gem! He is extremely professional, thorough, communicative, and caring. His warmth and ability to put kids at ease made the assessment painless (and even fun!) for our daughter, and he walked us through every step of the process. His evaluation and report was incredibly insightful and helpful; we learned a great deal about how she learns, and how to best support her. The teachers and administrators at my daughter's school were also very impressed with the report, and with Dr. Rosenthal's game plan for addressing her needs. Dr. Rosenthal also cares about and understands the whole child, taking into account the emotional and social pieces of the child's learning style. What has impressed me most is that Dr. Rosenthal's expertise did not end once the evaluation was completed. In the year since, he has continued to be a trusted ally, and a source of support, encouragement, and information for our family." - B.M., Parent
